Picnic Etiquettes

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

Who says that being on a picnic means you can certainly do whatever you desire? Well, if it were that way, then it will be too scary to go on a picnic because anything will be able to happen because there are generally no rules to follow. Individuals will just walk up to your picnic spot and hijack your basket which will be extremely dangerous, too. I shudder to think what could happen. So before anything awful happens to your supposedly calming and stress-free picnic, there are numerous picnic etiquettes that you must abide by in order to coexist with other picnic goers and with your surroundings also.

There are picnic groves that have several picnic tables that strangers can share. Please don’t come up to somebody else’s picnic and feel too comfortable. You never know what these people are there for and they might not like it if someone gatecrashes to their picnic.

Another common thing that happens in a really fun picnic with a lot of available food on the table is the famous Food fight. This is very common in school cafeterias but then it can happen in picnics too since they are by themselves. Don’t start, encourage or get involved in a food fight. Aside from all the trash that you will be leaving behind, you will be attracting a lot of bugs such as ants and bees that could harm you once they smell food on you.

Another thing to watch is your music volume. Don’t play your stereo too loud. You won’t just disturb other picnic goers, but you might irritate the animals around you. You don’t want a bear or other untamed animals to come over to your picnic just since they heard your loud music.

Speaking of bears, do not feed the creatures, specifically bears. They could be cute and cuddly, but then again you don’t know when they might suddenly turn wild. For many who take their dogs along on a picnic, do not let your dogs out without a leash because they might harm or destroy other people’s picnic and you will be held accountable for it.

Also, help to make sure you clean up your dog’s droppings and make sure to dispose it correctly. That applies to all your trash at the same time. Keep all your trash in a bag that you could bring to avoid a pile up of trash in the picnic site.

And on your way home, don’t drink alcoholic beverages knowing that you will be driving everyone home. Accidents happen anytime and everywhere so refrain from drinking alcohol in a picnic. There are a lot of things that you need to avoid in order to make your picnic worry and hassle free. The list goes on and on. Different strokes for different folks. In the end, the success of your picnic will all depend on how well you behave as a responsible picnic-goer.

Eventually, there are various things you can easily do without the need of limiting oneself from doing. Have fun, fun and more fun! Do provide an excellent camera to capture your precious moments, give loads of healthy and great food for all people in the picnic to enjoy and have some more fun under the sun.

Picnic Chaos: Tips, Time and Locations

Friday, March 12th, 2010

When my friends and I are planning to go on a picnic, we all start to assign stuff for a particular person to do. I always end up getting the part that picks out a place where to hold the picnic. We’ve been everywhere I can think of. We’ve been to the park and the last time we did, we had ants all over our plates in less that 15 minutes of playing hide and go seek behind the trees.

Apparently, the ants were also playing tag on which food to infest first. The best part is they chose to take over my plate first. My plate, which had a slice of pizza, blueberry cheesecake, hotdogs and macaroni salad, seemed as if it were a big pile of red fire ants. If I didn’t pay too much attention, the next thing I’ll be eating would be soft food with a fat lip. So scratch the park off the list.

One of my friends suggested that we go to a local mall and do our picnic by the benches at the food court. As if you can still call that picnic if we do that. That’s practically what we’re doing on a daily basis. Pigging out on pizza and then afterwards, going to the arcade to shed off some pounds with the interactive games they have there like Dance Dance Revolution (isn’t that a little bit 90’s?).

Anyway, the point is, we go to the mall every day. I want to set up an area where we don’t normally go and if we do, it will be a location where everybody will be looking forward to visit again after many times. Besides, if we set up a huge picnic cloth at the mall grounds and form a picnic group, we would end up in the mall’s administration office for scandal and misconduct in such a public venue and become the laughing stock of the mall.

So maybe we can try having a picnic by the river. The only problem is we’d end up being the mosquitoes’ picnic food and get Dengue Fever instead of a memorable experience. Well, it will be a very memorable experience. But of course, we don’t want to remember it that way. So we’re staying away from the river as well. I almost gave up on setting up the perfect place where to have our picnic when it suddenly hit me. Why not go to the beach? There’s a quiet side of the beach where nobody really bothers to go to. It would be a great way to have an exercise as well because it’ll be a spot that is not as accessible as the other beach front places where you can just park your car nearby.

A more uninhabited side would certainly be great. Walking to and from the place would be a superb way to delight in the breeze and the sound of the waves crashing against the shore. The authentic essence of going for a picnic is enjoying the destination, the food, and also the folks you are with anywhere.

Boracay Picnic: The Preferred Summer Vacation

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

I’m pretty sure that vacationers must have heard about the paradise called Boracay in the Philippines as of the moment. It’s truly a famous getaway where the sun is brightly shines for the whole year, where the waves are truly ideal for surfing plus the sand is really as white as powder. With all that, it’s been a preferred vacation spot for tourists and beach goers who wants to go for a swim or just for a picnic. I opt do everything that I could when I go there.

Seeing the turquoise water wash up in the shore makes me want to go in to its super clear water and take a dip. I do at least just a dip. I take a swim in it for several hours. While you’re in the water, you will see the wide view of the beach with countless people sunbathing, kids are having fun, a lot of people are usually having a very good and soothing massage while they take a siesta, and what I notice is that a lot of men and women are generally eating their own packed lunch.

If you’re on a budget, I suggest that you bring packed lunch instead of buying food from the stores at the beach front because you’ll have a hard time looking for affordable food there. Most are charging double for their goods. I know. This happens everywhere but what can we do. That is why I am telling you that it is smarter to bring your own food. If you really don’t like carrying a lot of stuff to the beach, then you can look for some stores that don’t sell their merchandise as if you’re paying for everything. To be fair with the vendors, there are some who stick with the original price of their commodities and they keep it that way because people buy from them. You can also bring a small thermos to keep your coffee hot when you drink it by the shore.

It is so much dramatic when you and your acquaintances go to a picnic and you choose the beach as your venue. Memories worth keeping as well as lasting ones are made on this tiny island. After the sun has already set, you’ll notice everyone in a hurry to get their cameras ready to take snap shots of themselves and their loved ones with the sunset behind them. I have one of those as well.

It’s a must for every traveler who goes to Boracay to have their pictures taken with the sunset. When the night comes, this is when the party starts. Well, the party starts before the sunset but the fire dancers come out at night to make it more exciting.

The beach front still has lights so you you don’t have to worry about having a dark picnic by the beach. They’re going to bring you fire lamps that you will be able to lay on the sand as continue with your picnic. Don’t fret. The beach picnic will not end there. As long as you’re on vacation, you can easily have your picnics on the sand as much as you want.
