Various Health Benefits From Living As A Vegetarian

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

The benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle are well documented and may include many positives not found in carnivorous diets.

Vegetarians eat a lot of vegetables which are naturally low in calories. Since they ingest limited calories, vegetarians are less likely to be obese or have such problems as high blood pressure, diabetes, colon cancer or arthritis. They are less susceptible to heart disease, as well.

Some believe that vegetarians may have lower blood pressure than carnivores, even if they eat the same amount of salt and exercise less. Studies appear to indicate that vegetarians experience less instances of colon cancer due to differences in the bacteria found in the colon.

A vegetarian diet has many factors that are beneficial to a healthy lifestyle. Fiber is a key component to a vegetarian diet. Vegetarians have been known to consume 2 to 3 times as much fiber as carnivores. A high fiber diet has been proven to reduce cholesterol and blood glucose levels, as well as, protect against certain cancers.

Vegetarians often consume a large quantity of antioxidants found in plants. Antioxidants have been shown to protect cells from damage and reduce the risk for heart disease, arthritis, cancer and other illnesses.

Vegetarians that eat a lot of soy often consume more isoflavones than carnivores. Isoflavones are a type of phytochemical. Scientists have found indications that isoflavones improves bone health and may reduce the chances of getting prostate cancer.

Meat eaters generally consume more saturated fat and cholesterol than vegetarians. As a result, vegetarians often have lower cholesterol levels and reduced risk for heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Vegetarians also are not exposed to heme iron, which is found in meat and may be linked to heart disease and cancer.

In addition to health benefits vegetarians also feel a unity with the environment and animals. Many vegetarians believe their diet also improves their peace of mind.

Can You Reduce Arm Flab With Energy Drinks?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Energy drinks pack a powerful punch and they can help you get through the dieting lows when trying to get toned arms. However, chronic consumption of said drinks has its consequences.

Unfortunately, energy drinks are extremely seductive. They can curb hunger when you’re trying to lose weight, they can help you overcome a massive sleep debt and they can put you in a good mood.

But here is why you should think twice about taking energy drinks to help you get rid of arm flab:

1. Digestive issues. Energy drinks are loaded with caffeine. And one of the major side effects from chronic and high caffeine intakes is the slow degradation of digestive linings.

2. Artificial masking of sleep debts. Just because you no longer feel the need to sleep, doesn’t mean that your body isn’t suffering the consequences. One consequence, is a reduction in the production of arm flab burning hormones.

3. Disturbed sleep. Everybody wakes up while they’re sleeping. The awakenings are so short, however, that you don’t remember them. Caffeine increases the amount of awakenings without you being aware of it. You’ll wake up, be super tired and not know what happened.

4. Increased stress. Energy drinks stimulate your adrenal glands to release epinephrine, dopamine and norepinephrine. All of which give you a tremendous surge of energy. Over time, the constant bombarding of your adrenal system can accelerate aging.

5. Low grade dehydration. Caffeine can mask many things. In this case, it can simultaneously mask and increase dehydration. Not a good combination for getting rid of arm flab. After all, hydration does effect metabolism and recovery from workouts. Moreover, it has a strong effect on your mood.

You are much better off sticking with loose leaf teas instead of energy drinks. However, you still have to be careful with abuse here. If some area in your daily routine is lacking, attack it before popping more caffeine. This will be a much better approach for losing that arm flab.

Making A Healthy Diet A Lifestyle

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Changing your diet can be a very tough challenge, however with some basic guidelines and goals you can easily change your lifestyle by turning a healthy diet into a way of life. Many people view this as a chore, but that can change by following some simple tips. This guideline will share some suggestions on how to lead a healthier life.

The first suggestion on my list is to eat breakfast! If you don’t have the time, then wake up earlier. This is arguably the most important meal of the day. It kicks your day off with some energy and will help keep you focused. Many people also think it helps their diet to skip breakfast, but this is false. By starting with breakfast, your metabolism gets going and will speed up.

Veggies are extremely important in providing vitamins and nutrients. Select some of your favorite colorful vegetables each day. Whether it’s carrots, sweet potatoes, broccoli, peppers and of course greens, they’re crucial for a healthy diet. Rotate to keep it different and exciting!

Certain types of fats are actually good for you. However, everything should be in proportion. Olive oil and avocado provide good fat, which are also good for your heart. Fish also has this benefit, and also includes many vitamins and minerals that are great for you. Use oils in moderation though.

Everyone loves sweets, but unfortunately the old saying “a minute on the lips, a pound on the hips” is true! Limit the amount of high sugar products. Reward yourself with a sweet occasionally throughout the week (but keep it real small).

Eating small meals throughout the day is great for the metabolism. If you can eat five small meals throughout the day, it will prevent over eating at meals as well as keep the metabolism working all day. If you can’t do this, then make sure to have at least three meals.

Keep healthy snacks around your work and home. Cottage cheese, yogurt, nuts or anything low in sugar, low fat and high protein make a great snack.

If you’re trying to make a change in your health/diet, this is a great starting point. Nothing on this list is too difficult, but the changes can actually go a long way! After several weeks, it will become a lifestyle and you’ll be happy you made the changes!

Thoughts On Juicing For Weight Loss

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Juicing is not only a pleasant-tasting and creative solution to help you in your weight loss goals, but is also an incredible way to attain your energy and vitality

Juicing for weight loss can be the perfect solution. By adding nutrient dense raw fruit, vegetables, and leafy green juices to your daily routine you will be surprised at how easily and quickly you can accelerate your weight loss goals and feel your downright best.

Juicing can cover fat burning and weight loss goals in a number of ways including reducing cravings, jump starting your metabolic process, saturating your cells with bio-available alimentation, supporting your body’s fat burning processes, flushing toxins stored in your fat cells, and reducing acidity in your body.

Often times the cause of your cravings for sweets and “super-sized” portions is because your body is starving for the nutrients that are supposed to be in your food in the first place. Unfortunately because so much of our modern diet is void of the nutrients our bodies desperately need, our cravings increase as our body attempts to fill this nutrient void. It has been reported that even healthy vegetables when cooked lose from 30 to 85% of the nutrition present in the food when raw. Most cooked and refined “manufactured” foods are almost completely void of heat sensitive enzymes. Enzymes are the catalyst for the hundreds of thousands of chemical reactions that fare throughout the body some of which aid in breakdown of fats and carbohydrates.

Fresh juice is full of vitamins, minerals, trace elements, natural sugars, proteins, and live enzymes which are almost instantly bio-available to your body. Adding fresh juice to your diet will do wonders to keep your cravings in check and cells well nourished. You will begin consuming smaller portions as your body is nourished. When your body has the essential nutrition it needs it will also begin to function better.

Juicing also aids in lowering the acidity in your body Unfortunately, because people today predominantly eat a diet high in processed acid-forming foods, we are weakened from chronic acidity. Too much acidity also can cause us to gain weight or prevent us from losing weight. Juicing for weight loss can be that magic asset to your diet plan that can not only help with weight, but also your health.

To make things worst, the body tends to store acid in fat cells and hangs on to the fat to keep the acidity from doing damage to your organs and other parts of the body . Basically fat acts like a sponge as a line of defense . The more acidity you consume the more fat the body has to store up for that defense.

Most fruit and vegetable juices counteract acidity because of their highly alkalizing effects. Vegetables, leafy greens and grasses in particular are among the most alkalizing foods you can eat and thus juice. Often, when people bring their bodies into a sound pH balance state, the weight seems to just melt away .

Because the body uses fat to hold toxins we often find it hard to lose weight. When we remove acidulent and toxic waste from our body’s cells, our bodies not longer need this extra protection, so we can begin to lose the extra fat. Juices are rich in antioxidants and other elements that bind to toxins and carry them out of your system. Because vegetable juices are alkalizing, they help the body flush away acidic, toxic waste and enable it to reach a better pH balance so it can help get rid of excess weight and cellulite.

Amongst all the amazing benefits that Juicing Recipes for Weight Loss can provide, I am shocked that juicing for weight loss is not the base of every diet guru’s plan.

Nutritional Extras For Reducing Bingo Wings

Monday, May 17th, 2010

If you are trying to figure out how get rid of bingo wings, it may seem like you are pushing a boulder up a mountain only to find that the boulder keeps on rolling back down! The good news is that there are some supplements that can help you push that boulder with a little more ease.

Now I would like to point out that no single supplement can do all the bingo wing work for you. Although a select few can help, you are still going to have to break a sweat.

And don’t forget that you can’t just exercise hard and expect to see results. You also have to diet hard outside of your workouts.

Thus, here are 4 supplements that can help you get rid of bingo wings:

1. Stimulants. The most important one being caffeine. Now caffeine is a double edged sword. Have too much and you run the risk of getting worse results. So make sure you have the bare minimum for maximum effect.

2. A low dose multivitamin. Make sure it is low dose so that you do not reach toxic levels for any single nutrient. It is not necessary nor healthy to have mega doses of vitamins despite what the marketing claims may say. Figuring out how to get rid of bingo wings should be healthy!

3. ALA. Alpha lipoic acid is sometimes referred to as an insulin mimicker. It helps your body get more nutrients into its active tissues like muscle. This is beneficial because it reduces the probability that the food you are eating is making your bingo wings bigger.

4. Chromium polynicotinate. Known as an insulin mimicker, chromium can help get more nutrients into your active tissues just like alpha lipoic acid. Just make sure you don’t take the picolinate version as some studies have shown that it can create toxicity.

Most supplements do not work, but some do. So the best approach here is to experiment with the ones that have a good track record, and if they don’t work for you, stop taking them. Figuring out how to get rid of bingo wings doesn’t have to be so hard!
